They don't care about us, they only care about money and power. We can see their corruption destroying nations and creating havoc. The people are hungry and they feed them lies so they can satisfy the big money, promote their families and live comfortably with wages well above average and luxury cars to drive them around, paid with taxpayers money, OUR money. This is how it is, it will never change, NEVER, because no one cares, everyone is an idiot, and that's how the system works. Raise that middle finger brother, against the system, after all you have the right to, you are getting screwed day after day, and there is no way out!
How is blaming the system working for us so far? Are we the first generation blaming the system? Certainly not. Every generation blames the system, the government, the officials, and rightfully so, and then what? Change takes place right? I might be delusional, i hope so at least but i can't see that change, can you?
I went to a conference where the Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Cyprus (yes they couldn't give him any more responsibility) was giving a presentation and also taking questions. He talked about the future and how bright it was because Cyprus' deal for Natural Gas was so promising. As a concerned citizen, I thought to ask him a few question about the future he was talking about, so I asked him these questions: "How will they use these funds for the future and the development of the Energy sector in Cyprus", "Are they taking into consideration the EU laws about cutting CO2 emissions by 2030", "If they are considering investing in a Renewable Energy sector development with that money". His answer was that he had no idea what the plan was for the next 3 years and they had no plans for anything yet because it was "too early" to think about that. Hmmmmm, so you are telling me my future is bright, and this will help increase employment, you will sign a multi billion euro deal with a company that will last for decades (not years. DECADES) and you have no plan whatsoever what to do with the money yet, or where to invest, or how this will affect the country given the laws you will have to follow or changes that might take place. I will let you judge for yourself whether this is the right path, aka not knowing what to do in the long term and only care about the short term but i will tell you that short term decisions for long term commitments usually end up in a disaster. If I had a company and I was about to sign that huge of a deal for example and had no clue about the long term goals and plans, I would probably be firing people day and night.
Maybe the new way of thinking is to give that middle finger to ourselves. We fucked up real bad, by giving people the power to do whatever they want and our only concern is that OUR political party is in charge, and OUR political party is getting paid. Meanwhile though, EVERYONE suffers, the system suffers, WE ARE THE SYSTEM. You might have seen this before on the Internet, and it's true, we are the system fortunately. I say fortunately because once we realize that, we can change and inevitably change the system as well. We don't even need to change the government, we need to change what we ask from them. Responsibility, living up to their promises and getting punished when they don't, as we do. They are not Gods, they are people like me and you, we put them there, and if they fuck up they need to pay the same price as we do when we fuck up.
I might be out of my mind here, but are we really just going to stand there and point fingers once again? It certainly didn't work all these years. Who cares what party someone is from, or even if he is saying the "right" thing. They are trained to talk the talk, to act the act, and they have people teaching them to do so. Are we really that naive believing that if they are in our party they have our interest in mind as well?
We ask for a government of the many, yet we are the many, we vote because we are the many. Someone fought for the right to vote, maybe we need to fight for the value in our vote this time. Maybe our attitude should be "Are you talking bullshit?" and "How will this affect me?". Maybe we shouldn't vote until there is someone to vote for. Maybe we need to change our ways, maybe we should question, maybe we should hold them accountable, maybe we need to stop being ignorant, maybe there is another way, maybe.....
